Creating and managing Product groups

What are Product groups in Shipping costs?

Product groups are collections of products that share the same shipping cost settings. These groups are organized within shipping zones.
Here’s how it works:

Default Product group: This group is part of the Default Zone and applies uniform shipping settings to all products that are not assigned to any specific group.
Multiple Product groups per zone: A single shipping zone can contain multiple product groups, each with its own unique shipping cost settings.
One group per product: A product can only belong to one product group within the same shipping zone. Once added to a group, it cannot be added to another group within that zone.

Managing Shipping Costs in the Default Product group

In the Default Zone, there is a Default Product group that applies one universal shipping cost to all products not added to other groups or zone. That means, if your store has only one Shipping Cost value for all locations and all products, you only need to change the shipping cost for the Default Product group.

Here's how to view and edit the Default Product group in Shipping Costs:

Click on the Default zone, here you will see the Default Product group

Click Edit
In the Default Product group, you can only change the shipping rules and cost as this group is applied to all products not in other groups
Select the Ship all items together checkbox if you don't want to separate shipping cost between different products in one order. That means, when you "ship all items together" in one order, all product are considered the same when applying your shipping costs and rules.

Creating a new Product group

You can create a new product group to add shipping cost for specific products. Creating new product groups can be done in both Default zone and Custom zones, here's the step-by-step tutorial:

In the Default zone or a Custom zone, click on Create product group

Enter a group name, then click Add products to select the products you want to add to the group

In the Edit product pop up, you can click on the filter button to view just the products you want. If you want to add all products in your store, click Select all available products, then click Save. Note that the available products list will depend on the applied filters.

Select a shipping rule for this group:
Quantity-based rule: The shipping cost for products in this group will be calculated based on the purchased quantity. If the shipping cost varies based on how many items were bought, click Add quantity break to set up the shipping cost accordingly.
Weight-based rule: The shipping cost for products in this group will be calculated based on the product/package's weight. If the shipping cost varies based on the weight value, click Add weight break to set up the shipping cost accordingly.

Ship all items together option: This option will change the final shipping cost value if you added quantity break or weight break in the product group.

When you enable this option, shipping costs based on quantity or weight are not charged multiple times for products in the same group.

You're all set! Click Save to create the new product group.

If you have different shipping costs between locations, you can Duplicate a Custom zone to save time on creating product group repetitively.

Update your changes in Shipping Costs to all orders in the past

After you've made edits in the Shipping Costs settings, the app will save your setting to apply to future orders only. If you want to apply new costs to orders in the past as well, please click the button Re-calculate past orders to apply the new costs to all of your orders in the past.
