Managing sources in Cost of Goods
Understanding COGS Sources in TrueProfit
COGS (Cost of Goods Sold) sources in TrueProfit determine how the app retrieves the COGS value for your order calculations. Currently, you can manage COGS through three sources:
Shopify Integration: Automatically syncs from Shopify when you install the app.
CJ Dropshipping Integration: Syncs through the CJ Dropshipping platform.
Manual Entry: Directly edit COGS within the app.
Shopify source
By default, TrueProfit will sync the Cost per item data from your Shopify setting. This is an automatic sync process to ensure the COGS stay updated with your changes on Shopify effortlessly.

Tips: If you've just installed TrueProfit and want to use the synced COGS value from Shopify to calculate your product costs, make sure you click the Recalculate past orders button to apply product costs to orders in the past.
How to edit COGS on Shopify:
From your Shopify admin, open the Pricing setting of a variant.
Enter a COGS value in the Cost per item field.
CJ Dropshipping source
If you have connected your CJ Dropshipping account with TrueProfit, the app will retrieve COGS data from your fulfilled orders and apply it to the matching products in the Cost of Goods setting.
To switch to the CJ Dropshipping source, follow the gif below:

In the Orders Report page, you can find and filter the orders that were fulfilled by CJ and have costs synced from this source.
Note: At the moment, TrueProfit can only match COGS data from orders that include one product only.

Manual source
If no Cost per item is set in Shopify, you can manually enter the COGS value directly in TrueProfit.
With the manual source, you can set up advanced COGS setting like bundled COGS and adding COGS in the past.
Before entering the COGS manually, make sure you changed the COGS source like the gif above.

Tips: You can also use the Bulk action to edit multiple products and variant at the same time. Read this article for a step-by-step tutorial on how to Bulk edit COGS.
Applying your changes in product costs to all orders in the past
All the edits you made to a product/variant will be saved and applied to future orders only. If you want to apply new costs to orders in the past as well, you will have to recalculate all past orders in TrueProfit.
Recalculate past orders means applying new changes to all orders that match for all products. If you want to manage different product costs in the past, add COGS periods like the instructions above.
How to recalculate past orders for one or multiple products
Step 1: Select the products or variants that you want to recalculate using the checkboxes at the left of the table
Step 2: When a product or variant is selected, you can see the Re-calculate product past orders button shows up at the top of the table
Step 3: Click Re-calculate product past orders to start applying and recalculate COGS for all orders in the past of the selected products/variants
