Product Cost | Edit and Set Quantity Break for Product COGS

By default, TrueProfit syncs the COGS from your Shopify admin and apply it in cost calculations. You can manually edit and update the COGS for your products in the Product Cost settings. However once you've updated the COGS in TrueProfit, the app will stop syncing data from Shopify for that product.

In this article:

1/ Fixed COGS
2/ Price range COGS
2.1/ Quantity break for COGS at the Variant level
2.2/ Quantity break for COGS at the Product level

Here's how to change and update the COGS for your products in TrueProfit: Go to Calculation > Product Cost and click on the Edit icon at the product you want to edit. In the setting panel, there are 2 options for you to set up COGS: Fixed price and Price range.

Fixed COGS

Fixed COGS is the one cost that does not change and applies for the product when it is purchased.

If you choose to Calculate all items as product, all variants of this product will apply the same COGS you set. This means, if an order has multiple variants of this product, the total COGS will be multiplied with the items quantity.

Fixed price

Price range COGS

With Price range, you can set the COGS based on item quantity.

This feature is available on our Ultimate Plan only

1. Quantity break for COGS at the Variant level

To set up the different COGS based on quantity for each variant of a product, make sure you don't check the Calculate all items as product.

Here's an example to help you understand this feature better:
You have T-shirt product with different COGS for white items and black items as following:

White items
- 1 item: $10/item
- From 2 to 4 items: $9/item
- From 5 to 9 items: $7/item
- From 10 onwards: $5/item

The settings for the T-shirt's white item

Black items
- 1 item: $15/item
- From 2 to 4 items: $13/item
- From 5 to 9 items: $10/item
- From 10 onwards: $7/item

The settings for the T-shirt's black item

Once saved, the COGS for this product will be calculated like this:
- If you have an order has 5 items of the T-shirt: 5 black. The total COGS = (15*1) + (13*3) + (10*1) = $64
- If you have an order has 5 items of the T-shirt: 3 white and 2 black. The total COGS = (10*1) + (9*2) + (15*1) + (13*1) = $56

You can also choose one or multiple variants for the setting.

2. Quantity break for COGS at the Product level

If you have the same COGS based on quantity for all variants, and you want to set COGS based on quantity at the product level, check the Calculate all items as product to enable the feature.

Here's an example to help you understand this feature better:

Your T-shirt product has the same COGS for white item and black item as following:
- 1 item: $10/item
- From 2 to 4 items: $9/item
- From 5 to 9 items: $7/item
- From 10 onwards: $5/item

Check the Calculate all items as product option

Once saved, the COGS for this product will be calculated like this:
- If you have an order has 5 items of the T-shirt: 5 black. The total COGS = (10*1) + (9*3) + (7*1) = $44
- If you have an order has 5 items of the T-shirt: 3 white and 2 black. The total COGS = 10*1) + (9*3) + (7*1) = $44
