Setting up Calculation Preferences
The Calculation Preference setting is when you can change how TrueProfit calculates some metrics for your store, for example, the COGS, taxes, and return metrics. Additionally, you can also change the default payment status filter and default date range.
In this part, you will see 4 customization rules that are related to your metrics on the dashboard.
Exclude Taxes Collected metric from the Net Profit formula: Taxes Collected are the tax amount that you charge your buyer in each order. You can choose whether to remove collected taxes from your Net Profit.
Exclude item’s COGS from refunded orders: Decide if the cost of goods sold (COGS) should be deducted for refunded products. If enabled, COGS will be calculated for all orders, including returns.
Don't count zero-revenue orders: Enable this option if you don't want TrueProfit to count orders with no revenue in the total orders metric. Note that the Order report will still display all orders recorded.
Calculate Returns on the same day the order is placed: By default, returns are calculated on the return date. Enable this to calculate returns on the order date instead.
Once you change and save your new settings, all metrics that have the Refunds amount such as Revenue, Gross Profit, and Net Profit will be recalculated for all of your reports.
Please note: If you choose to Calculate Refunds on the same day the order is placed, you will see the discrepancy in Revenue between TrueProfit and Shopify because Shopify calculates your refunds on the refunded day by default.
When syncing your order data from Shopify, TrueProfit will count all orders in all statuses by default. If you want to change this setting, click on the dropdown menu and select the order statuses you want to view in the TrueProfit app.
Note that this filter will affect the order data in your Dashboard, Orders Report, mobile app, and email reports.
