When setting up Shipping Costs in TrueProfit, you can choose to set the shipping costs based on the product's quantity or weight:
The quantity-based rule uses the product's unit count in an order to calculate shipping cost.
The weight-based rule uses the order's total weight to calculate shipping cost.

Choosing a shipping rule to apply to a product group

Setting up quantity-based Shipping Costs

When you first installed the app, your default shipping cost is 0, and under the quantity-based rule. This means the shipping cost is the same, no matter how many items were purchased, for the Default product group in the Default zone.

If your store has one flat shipping cost for all orders, we recommend editing this field to apply one shipping cost value to all orders and products.

How to set up Shipping Costs using quantity break

Adding quantity break in the Shipping Cost setting lets you manage different cost ranges based on the purchased quantity of your product in an order.

Step 1: Click Add quantity break to add a new row for unit count
Step 2: In the first row, enter the maximum number of units for the first COGS value. The next row will be filled automatically to ensure your setting is correct.
Step 3: Enter the Shipping cost value for each row.

Please note that the Shipping cost value is applied to each unit sold in an order. For example, the shipping costs given by your shipping service are:

$9 if an order has 1 unit
$15 if an order has 2 units
$20 if an order has 3 units
$25 if an order has 4 units or more

The app doesn't calculate using the total cost directly. Instead, you need to find the Shipping costs by subtracting the cost of a lower level from the higher level's total cost.
Here's how to deduct the shipping cost value in each level to have the correct cost with the given values above:

For orders with 2 units: Shipping cost = (1*9) + (1*6) = $15
For orders with 4 units: Shipping cost = (1*9) + (1*6) + (1*5) + (1*5) = $25
For orders with 5 units: Shipping cost = (1*9) + (1*6) + (1*5) + (2*5) = $30

That means your input in each row will be as follows:

When to use "Ship all items together" option

You can select the "Ship all items together" checkbox in this setting step. When checked, your Quantity-based rule will be applied to all products in the group, treating them as the same product. This results in no separation of products when counting units sold in an order.

If unchecked, each product added to the group will be counted separately when applying your quantity break setting.

Once you've done editing the quantity-based costs, remember to click button Re-calculate past orders to apply your cost to all orders in the past.

Setting up weight-based Shipping Costs

Weight-based Shipping Costs lets you calculate the shipping cost based on the total order's weight, excluding the package weight. The weight of your products is pulled from your Shopify admin.

The weight-based Shipping Costs rule is an available setting in product groups, including the default group in the Default Zone. To use the weight-based shipping rule for a product group, click Edit then select the weight-based option.

By default, the weight-based shipping rule applies one flat cost to all weight values. If your shipping costs vary based on the weight of the order, then you'll need to use weight break for bundled shipping.

How to set up Shipping Costs using weight break

Step 1: Click Add weight break to add a new row for weight limit
Step 2: In the first row, enter the maximum weight value for the first COGS value. The next row will be filled automatically to ensure your setting is correct.
Step 3: Enter the Shipping cost value for each row.

This means, for orders that weight less than 2 kg, the shipping cost is $3. If an order exceed 2 kg but weight less than 5 kg, the shipping cost is $2. The rest will have the shipping cost of $1 per order. There are no limit to how many levels you can add.

When to use "Ship all items together" option

You can select the "Ship all items together" checkbox in this setting step. When checked, your Weight-based rule will be applied to the entire order's weight, treating them as a single package. This results in no separation of products when calculating weight value of an order.

If unchecked, each product added to the group will have separate weight value when applying your weight break setting.

Once you've done editing the quantity-based costs, remember to click button Re-calculate past orders to apply your cost to all orders in the past.
